Getting a tattoo is a very serious decision as the tattoo will more than likely remain on your body forever. However, choosing to remove a tattoo is even more serious as it is typically both more painful and much more expensive than getting the tattoo in the first place. In addition, while your tattoo probably took a few hours to put on, it will probably take weeks or months to remove it.

While there are options including laser treatments and surgery to help get rid of your tattoos, one of the most popular and certainly the least expensive methods is to use a topical tattoo removal treatment such as Tat-Med. Topical Tattoo Removers have become more and more popular each year and are now beginning to catch up with laser treatment in terms of usage. The main reason more and more people are deciding to use tattoo removal creams and gel is very simple: cost.

The reality is that while laser treatments are effective, they are also very expensive and almost never covered by existing health insurance plans. This is because unless removing the tattoo is medically necessary, insurance companies view the procedure as cosmetic/elective and therefore force those that want their tattoos removed to pay for the treatment out of pocket.

When you add up the final cost of having your tattoo removed via laser you could easily spend thousands and thousands of dollars. On the other hand, using a topical option like TatMed is much more affordable. This is because topical solutions cost a fraction of the price of laser treatments and while it will take multiple bottles to produce visible results, it will still be much less expensive not to mention less painful than having your tattoo removed via laser or surgery.

However, it should be noted again, that while using a topical tattoo remover such as Tat-Med is effective and safe, it will take longer to see results. This is because the process used to fade and help erase a tattoo using a topical solution involves removing layers of skin until the final layer of tattooed skin is revealed and removed. Basically, topical tattoo removers help speed up the natural exfoliating process by effectively removing old layers of skin and allowing new ones to appear. This is also why old tattoos look faded and dull. When used in conjunction with an exfoliating pad, the process is even further sped-up and will fade and help erase the tattoo even more efficiently.

It should also be noted that a few weeks into using Tat-Med, the unwanted tattoo will appear brighter than before. This is due to the fact that the ink is getting closer to the surface of the skin and that the process is working.

Regarding safety, using a topical tattoo removal cream or gel like Tat-Med is the safest way to get rid of a tattoo. However, some topical tattoo removal products do use TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid), which is a skin peeling agent. These kinds of products are much more risky than using TatMed which relies on proven and safe ingredients like Alpha Arbutin.

Spend a few minutes surfing the net for information on Chinese tattoos and you will quickly notice a recurring theme warning the would be tattoo recipient to ensure they know someone reliable who can accurately translate the meaning before they just go ahead a slap one on. There is even an entire blog dedicated to the misuse of these characters. Makes you wonder about all the times you wondered into a tattoo artist’s workshop and flipped through the hundreds of Chinese tattoos available looking for that perfect one which symbolized your life on this planet.

Anyone who has ever thought of getting a tattoo has considered the option of a Chinese tattoo or for that matter a Korean or Japanese tattoo. Their mystery, sleek design and hidden meanings draw on our curiosity like moths to a flame. We picture friends and strangers asking with keen interest about our decision behind such a choice, which may even lead some people to create elaborate stories about their own life.

There is an endless mythical history in Asian cultures, it’s no wonder Westerners are drawn to these types of tattoos, Chinese designs being the most popular and sort after around the world. Part of the interest, one would guess, is how unique each character seems and so the chances of someone else having the same one is unlikely. The fact that they also look cool doesn’t hurt either.

Making the perfect, meaningful choice

Chinese tattoos are available in many different designs because the language is made up of thousands of characters rather than the few letters in the English alphabet. It may not be necessary to say it but if you choose to get a permanent tattoo, Chinese or not, it is exactly that, permanent. It is certainly not a decision to be taken lightly or one you should be making impulsively.

If it is a story you are looking for then take the time to talk with a friend who knows some Asian history and who understands the culture and language. It would be in your best interest before getting your Chinese tattoo, to do as much research as possible. Imagine the sheer horror of having a Chinese symbol tattooed on your arm or the small of your back only to find out it has some perverse or trivial meaning when you thought it actually meant something along the lines of love, peace or hope.

One of the ways to avoid this could be to decide on a word or phrase or even your name you would like to get a Chinese tattoo of and get it translated into characters or symbols. This will ensure accuracy and of course uniqueness.

The Chinese culture has evolved over thousands and thousands of years and such deserves the respect of a little forethought when considering a Chinese tattoo rather than a decision based on whether your favorite celebrity has one or not.

A fresh tattoo is more or less an open wound so it requires the right aftercare so that it can heal properly. Each stage of the healing process means that the tattoo will need a different sort of caring method. Tattoos should be kept clean at all costs and should be exposed to the least amount of germs possible. Healing stages tend to be unique to various individuals so this is something you will have to consider as well.

Lots of factors tend to play their respective roles in the manner which your tattoo will heal. Some of these factors include the type of skin that you have, where the tattoo is located on your anatomy and the tattoo artist as well as the methods involved in creating and engraving the tattoo.

When your tattoo has been completed, the tattoo artist will usually place a bandage over the tattoo and tell you not to remove it for a few hours in order to limit the external exposure that your fresh tattoo gets.

Getting a fresh tattoo is somewhat like having some form of minor surgery so if your tattoo bleeds a little bit in the initial 24-hour period after you get it, consider it normal. A bandage should usually assist in absorbing any bleeding which results from your tattoo immediately after the procedure. You should also be rather careful when your bandage is being removed and you should not allow a huge amount of blood dry on your bandage.

As soon as it is time to get the bandage off from your tattoo, you should do it rather carefully. It may be possible that some amount of blood has dried on the bandage and ripping it off suddenly could ruin the look of your new tattoo.

The initial healing stage of your tattoo is something that you tend to experience almost immediately so you should expect your tattoo to be red, sore and perhaps a bit swollen. Other than this you might also get a slight stinging feeling somewhat like sunburn. Others who have experienced getting a tattoo might liken the experience to sunburn as well.

The healing process with tattoos is almost the same as recovering from bad sunburn. It is a rather common occurrence for a new tattoo to peel after a number of days. You should never attempt to peel away any part of the skin yourself because doing so might result in you pulling the ink out of your tattoo and leaving it discolored and uneven in terms of the way it looks.

You might also experience the tight, dry and itchy feeling which comes with a new tattoo. You should continue applying tattoo aftercare lotion in order to moisturize the tattoo and reduce the symptoms experienced. You might see some small particles of colored skin drift off your tattoo as it heals and this is rather normal as well.

These are the usual healing stages associated with new tattoos: Week one, expect soreness and redness, and slight bleeding is common during the initial 24 hours following your procedure. Week two, expect the tattoo to flake or peel and your tattoo may become itchy. Week three, which is usually the final week of the healing process scabbing and peeling will have subsided although the area might still feel sensitive.

By: Kelvin Ho

About the Author:

One of the avenues of self-expression especially for the younger generation is the tattoo. Although there was a time when tattoos are thought of only for the punks and the criminals, tattoos now are in vogue with celebrities like Cristina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and a lot more sporting their own insignias in various parts of their body.

Tattoos are actually a great way to express one’s conviction and beliefs. Some people for instance used tattoos as a way of showing to the world their personal advocacies, whether they be about the Iraq war or the animal rights.

When tastefully done, tattoos can also be a way to make a fashion statement. Depending on the placement, a tattoo can be a really sensuous and sexy addition to your body. Most women place tattoos on their lower backs, on the cheeks of their buttocks, near their ankles, on their shoulders, or near their belly buttons.

There are actually a lot of designs to choose from depending on what you aim for when having your tattoo. Women for instance will settle for feminine pictures like flowers, butterflies and circles while men will put on symbols and foreign wordings. Others will have the names of their loved ones tattooed while other will place symbols of their personal advocacies on their bodies.

Some place words that are part of their personal mantras as a reminder of what they believe in and what they should do. If you are also thinking of getting a tattoo, here are some of the factors that you should consider. Read on before you decide!

Where to get the tattoo

Although tattoos are virtually commonplace especially for the younger kids, it is still important that you choose the establishment where you will have your tattoo done. Remember that needles are needed to do a tattoo design and it will be used to pierce your skin. It is important then that you choose a place that is both established and safe because you can get all kinds of illness with contaminated needles, including AIDS, Hepatitis and other sickness that can be transmitted through blood.

If you do not know any centers that specialize with tattoos, better ask around before you go. Do not attempt to do your own tattoos or have your friends do it for you. This is extremely dangerous and it can mean infections when not taken cared of properly. Leave the tattoos to the professionals who know what they are doing!

Choose carefully and choose well

Although a tattoo can be erased anytime, it will not be as easy as rubbing it off. Sometimes it will leave a scar that will take a long time to heal. It is important then that you are sure of the design that you are going to have tattooed on your skin as this is a permanent thing. Once tattooed, it will be hard to remove it.

In choosing designs, it is good to select one that is universal and timeless. Choose something that you will always like. Putting the name of your current partner as your tattoo is not so good since there is a chance that you will someday call off the relationship. It is also not good to symbols that you feel is just a part of your current phase. Choose a design that will also grow with you.

By: Bob Janeway

About the Author:

So, you’ve decided to show your faith by getting a tribal Jesus tattoo! Despite the bevy of opinions, one fact is a glaring truth: You should always do some research before getting a tattoo…

The first thing that you should take into account is that a tattoo is a permanent deal. You could always get “removal” or find a good artist who can make another tattoo over the previous one. The point here being is that some people go and get tattoos just for the sake of getting one. You don’t want to be one of those people who get a tattoo and later regret it. What I recommend is pretty simple… Trust your gut! If you see a tattoo design and it feels right and you can’t help but smile every time you look at it, then that is probably your best bet! There are literally over a million different designs, not including custom ones provided by the person getting a tattoo so don’t rush, and make sure it’s the one.

Variety and originally seems to be something that most people want when it comes to their tattoo and I don’t blame them! No one wants to go to the beach or on vacation and see someone with an exact same tattoo that you have. You could go on Google and image search a bunch of random pictures if you don’t mind looking like everyone else. So sometimes it could just be a symbol or idea you have in your mind and finding a good enough artist, as I said earlier.

Sometimes it is a good idea to check out some tattoo design websites. There are some who will most likely charge you a small fee to keep a tighter grasp on their exclusive art. Some people would think, well what’s the point, can’t I just go to a shop and get custom art there? Well if a website charges for their design, chances are the art is usually a step above your average tattoo artist locally. Speaking of the local shops, some of these websites are dedicated to giving reviews of these shops do to make sure you don’t go somewhere that is third-rate. It makes your decision making process a lot less stressful.

Good luck on your new tribal Jesus tattoo!

By: Dean Olmstead

About the Author:

The hardest part of getting a tattoo is selecting the right design. Tattoos can look sensational, but choose your design carefully before jumping in head first.

Will I or won’t I? – That’s the burning question. Unlike in days gone by where having a tattoo (particularly for a woman) branded you as somewhat of a social outcast, tattoos are now very much a part of everyday life. Hollywood actresses, teenagers, mums and even grandmothers are flocking to have themselves tattooed.

In many cases they look great but in some cases they look awful. There is a fine line between looking good and going too far. If you are contemplating having a tattoo for the first time, hasten slowly. Once you have it there is no going back.

Take your time and don’t rush the process and don’t under any circumstances be pressured by anyone. It may be better to start with a small tattoo and in a discreet position. What you have to remember is that as you age, your skin is not as trim, taut and terrific as it is now so discretion may be your best bet.

There are some great online sites with some gorgeous designs so have a look at these and see if you can find what you are looking for. These are ideal to consider in the comfort of your own home where you can get the support of your loved one. You could waste countless hours trying to design what you are after but given the quality of what is now available online, you would be better off looking at this option first. It is much easier that way as you know immediately what your tattoo will look like when it is on your body.

You have done your research and you are now on top of the diving board ready to take the plunge. When you hit the water make sure there are no splashes by making the wrong decision with the design you thought you had chosen.

Did you know that the main reason that many people give when seeking the removal of a tattoo is that they don’t like the design. Now is the time to choose wisely.

By visiting Design Tattoos Online you will know exactly what your tattoo will look like when your favourite artist applies it to your body.

By: Marty Barton

About the Author:

Are you planning on getting a Tramp Stamp while on your college spring break? If you are you need to know important aspects of getting inked and the process for recovery.

Getting a Tramp Stamp with close friends at a spring break resort can be fun and exciting, even a rite of passage to commemorate a wild time in your life. However, you should follow a few tips to keep this tattoo session a healthy and safe one.

Below are 3 important tips you should think about to have a problem free experience.

Tip #1 Try to Pre-screen

I know this may be difficult because you are either in a foreign country or just going with the rush of the moment but you should ask a few questions before the ink even gets close to your skin. Ask about sanitation of the equipment, see examples of the artist’s work. If you don’t like his/her answers, don’t do it. There are a million artists out there, wait until you get home if you have to but just letting anyone permanently ink you is like playing Russian roulette.

Tip #2 Know what you are getting into

Remember, split second decisions sometimes aren’t the best one’s. You might like something now that could bring you problems down the road. Do your research before spring break and search the internet for bad designs and experiences so you are at least educated about the dangers. Try to have some design concepts in your mind or even bring a picture to help the artist.

Tip #3 Recovering from a Tramp Stamp

Recovery takes time. A Tramp Stamp or any other tattoo needs to be kept clean, bandaged and dry. So, if you are thinking of getting one on the first day, you might want to hold off because you will ruin your week.

A tattoo needs time to heal which means staying away from the ocean, pool or hot tub. Be aware that you are going to experience some discomfort as well. If you aren’t going away on Spring break than get one on the first day so you have enough time to heal before you go back to school.

Getting a tattoo should be a fun experience when done right. Make sure you use a talented and experienced professional. Try to choose a design that you will enjoy for years to come because removing a tattoo is a bit of a pain but can be done

What you just learned about Spring Break is just the beginning.

If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo but have some doubts about it, remember that before adventuring you should keep in mind certain basic aspects:

Choose the best combination between the design and size of the tattoo: there are endless images to put in your skin: drawings, letters, symbols, tribals… however, not all of them will look good in just any size. The rule is, the smaller you want your tattoo to be, the simpler the chosen image should be. This is simply because complicated drawings will become less clear as more reduced is the size of the surface dedicated to them; that is, if a drawing has many lines and the tattooist has to make it at a very small scale, two lines could become one, or a dot could come to occupy much more proportional space than it did in the original picture. So, the design will probably lose virtue and the result won’t be the best. Choose the most adequate part of the body: there are certain “risk zones” that is better to avoid, the most common being the thighs, the abdomen, the breasts, and in some cases the biceps. Why? Because these areas tend to vary in size: if you gain weight, if you lose it, and the same with muscular tissue… when these parts change their size and the skin tightens or loosens, the design can lose its original shape. If you choose these types of areas, the most convenient is to get a simple drawing, for example a tribal, and avoid above all pictures of faces or bodies. Also keep in mind the hair matter; because to tattoo you they will shave you, and when the hair grows back it could ruin your design. Always remember that a tattoo is a permanent mark: tough as we know there are many methods to remove a tattoo (later on we will examine some of them), when getting rid of a tattoo the zone in question can suffer changes such as hypo or hyperpigmentation, or the ink may not disappear totally and leave unwanted and unsightly markings. It is extremely difficult that the area remains as if the tattoo had never existed. Don’t choose the design lightly: very often this is the reason by which after a certain time people decide to eliminate them. In general, you will be more satisfied if the tattoo has some personal meaning, if it expresses some aspect of its bearer’s personality, or his ideas, goals, likes, convictions. Don’t drink alcohol before getting your tattoo: this could provoke excessive bleeding. Always check out the sanitary aspect very carefully: this is probably the most important thing to have in mind before getting tattooed, you must make sure BEFORE any needles touch you that the place’s and the personnel’s hygiene and the instruments they use are appropriate. The syringes must always be taken out of their hermetic wrapping right in front of the customer’s eyes, the personnel must wear latex gloves, the place must be totally clean and it should inspire total trust. Remember that you could get very serious diseases if the conditions aren’t adequate: hepatitis b, hepatitis c, bacterial infections and mycosis, allergic reactions, malignant lesions such as melanoma and skin cancer, leprosy, psoriasis and even AIDS. It is chiefly important not to take these precautions lightly, for your health and your life are at stake.

Lastly , remember that if you’re not completely sure, there’s no need to hurry… and if you are, be sure to clear any doubts before deciding, and, once more, as our most important piece of advice, take a very good look at all the correspondent hygiene measures. Good luck!

By: javier

About the Author:
