Is your ex-girlfriend’s name on your forearm? Do you have a flower on your calf that prevents you from getting a job? Get it removed! Tattoo removal is always a good idea for your future.. even if you did make mistakes in the past.

There are multiple options to getting your tattoo removed, some more effective, and costly, than others. Understanding the basics and costs of all of them will help you make the most educated decision regarding your ink removal.

Laser Tattoo Removal – Lasers are the most frequently used way to remove tattoos. They target the tat with pulses of light that break down the ink, which are then broken down and removed by your own internal systems. Doing laser removal can take multiple treatments to fully removal the ink. Scarring does occur from time to time, although advances have made this a non-issue as of today. Laser sessions run from $250-850 each.

Unfortunately, professional, colored tattoos can’t be assured of their removal.

Cream Removals – Whether these products actually work is still debated, but many studies seem to show that these products can significantly reduce the appearance of tattoos without any pain or damage to your precious skin. Products like Tat-B-Gone cost $125 for a two month supply, while Tattoo-OFF runs at $116.95. While still pretty expensive, when compared to laser surgery these options seem considerably cheaper.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) – Similar to Laser Removal, IPL uses a high intensity light that has similar effects. These method has been considered less painful than laser therapy, and often needs less total treatment sessions. Unfortunately, this method is considerably more expensive, and can cost 10+ dollars per PULSE of the laser, which can result in a rather expensive tab.
